Dear Cascade Foothills Soccer Club Families,
With 2012 fall registration just around the corner I wanted to touch base with everyone regarding some changes CFSC has made this off season. CFSC has been part of Mt. Rainier Soccer Association (MRSA) since its inception many years ago. Sumner Soccer Club, Orting Soccer Club and Mt. Rainier Futbol Club (MRFC) also were a part of MRSA. MRSA has dissolved. Sumner and Orting have chosen to join Tacoma Pierce Junior Soccer Association and MRFC has left Washington Youth Soccer to join US Club Soccer. In order for CFSC to continue operations as usual, it was necessary for us to join a new association. The CFSC board decided that the Maple Valley soccer Association (MpVSA) had goals and programs most similar to ours and they were willing to accept us as a member club. CFSC is in the final stages of joining MpVSA. CFSC remains an independent club with our own board of directors.
Most families will not see a change in their typical CFSC experience. Things will stay the same with the exception of the U8, U9 and U10 age groups. In the past U8, U9 and U10 teams traveled to Sumner and Orting for a few games a year. This year they will travel to Maple Valley, Auburn or Kent instead. U5, U6 and U7 will continue, as usual, at Southwood Fields. And U11 and above will be a part of District 3 Soccer as usual.
The CFSC board understands that times are tough and money is tight. CFSC is a 501c3, nonprofit organization. Regrettably, in order for us to operate in the “black”, we will have to raise our registration fees for 2012. MpVSA has a paid administrative staff (MRSA didn’t) and we need to pay our share. Hopefully, this paid staff will make registration and scheduling a snap.
2012 CFSC Registration Fees
U5 $60
U6 $70
U7 $80
U8-U10 $110
U11 and above $135
In 2012 CFSC will offer a 50% discount for one child to anyone who volunteers to coach a team. Hopefully this will be an incentive to families to volunteer.
CFSC will continue to have a family discount. Register 3 or more and receive $10 off each player starting at #3.
U8-U10 can get $10 off of registration if they reuse their reversible jerseys. Ask around, there are a ton of jerseys out there.
CFSC is looking for volunteers. Each board member receives one free player a year. We have several open positions: VP, Secretary, Equipment, and Fields. PLEASE feel free to attend a board meeting (3rd Tuesday of every month in the Key Bank basement meeting room) or email us for more information.
Registration opens March 15. Please visit our website cascadefoothillssoccer.org to register.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.
Yours in Soccer,
Kari Christensen CFSC President
